Nursery
2 to 4 years old
Nursery rhymes, story-telling, dramatic play, basic reading and writing starts at Nursery 2. Children learn more when they are able to participate in the story or the activity. This is the environment we provide for the children- an interactive method of teaching, allowing children the freedom to speak and to act.
PHONICS
- We can say Letterlanders' name
- We can recognize the sounds they make
- We can say the letter sounds in response to plain letters
- We can match uppercase and lowercase letters
- We know the Vowel Men!
SPEECH AND AUDITORY SKILLS
- We can speak in complete sentences
- We know the concept of tracking print/reading direction (left to right, top to bottom)
- We can point to words in a book
- We can recite and sing simple songs
WRITING SKILLS
- We can hold a writing tool in tripod grasp
- We can draw simple shapes
